Guidelines for dosage & use

Potencies preferred are 30c or 200c. In an emergency use what you have on hand.

Keep pills (or liquid) uncontaminated – don’t put dropped pills back into the vial.

Keep them away from strong light, electrical fields, strong odors & heat.

Having said this, I carry them in my handbag with mobile phone, & have found them effective in an emergency, e.g. carbo vegetabilis for a case of circulatory shock (heart attack!), so don’t assume that they are inactivated before trying.

Homeopathic pilules (pills) are dissolved in a clean mouth.  Rinse mouth with water first if necessary, say after brushing teeth or drinking coffee. In an emergency, don’t worry, just repeat the dose after a couple minutes if necessary.

One pill or several taken at one time = 1 dose. The quantity doesn’t matter. Use several, & you will run out of pills sooner.  Drop the pill(s) from the vial into the cap, then straight into the mouth & let dissolve.

In an emergency, if the first dose does not cause a perceptible change in a few minutes, repeat the medicine – another dose. Keep repeating if needed , as symptoms return while getting help. Stop if feeling better.

ACONITE                              ACUTE  FEAR, PANIC, MENTAL SHOCK.  1^st attack of angina, while calling for help.  Panic attacks.

ARNICA                                 1^ST REMEDY IN INJURIES, ACCIDENT. BRUISING. Head injury. Patient thinks they are ok when obviously   not.  Anything that looks or feels like a bruise. Long term effects of injuries & bruises. Blood clots. Bump on the head that looks like an egg.

CANTHARIS                        BURNS.  Scalds. Taken straight away, may avoid blistering.  Helps with the pain as well as healing.

CARBO VEGETABILIS       “CORPSE REVIVER”.  CIRCULATORY COLLAPSE.  Patient is pale, cold,  clammy, breath shallow or imperceptible. Air hunger – needs window opened or to be fanned despite coldness.  Pulse faint or imperceptible.  Near death.

                                                 I have seen the effect of carbo vegetabilis in heart attack & angina   pectoris. The color comes back to the face, & “the airconditioning  has been switched back on”. Worth doing until the ambulance arrives!

HYPERICUM                       NERVE PAIN & INJURY. Pain relief & healing of nerve injuries  - crushed fingers & toes,  lacerated tongue or other nerve-rich areas, dental pain,  spinal injury.  Numbness and/or tingling of nerves.

                                                Even when paracetamol is not enough, homeopathic hypericum helps with the pain. It’s fine to use both. The homeopathic medicines do  not cause any problem of overdose, interaction etc.

Saturday 12th April 2008 saw the launch of the Friends of Sammy-Joe Foundation, at the Turf Club Hotel, North Melbourne.

I met Maria and Joe Liistro, parents of Sammy-Joe for the first time. Very lovely warm people, no outward signs of the undoubted hardship they have endured in caring for their son, 19 years old now, who has a rare genetic disorder - Trichothiodystrophy, as well as Cockayne Syndrome, and Xeroderma Pigmentosum.. all of this off the top of my head now, so I hope Im not mistaken!

This is an excellent site, primarily for practitioners, although by reading the cases you can get an insight into the thought that goes into  case taking, analysis and prescribing in classical homeopathy - a far cry from the common perceptions of iris diagnosis and specific remedies for specific simple common ailments..

Note also the "non-use" of herbal medicines and over-the-counter supplements!

Arrgh! write, write, write, then the page suddenly disappears! Skin conditions? In the case of scarring from injuries, burns etc... Not only the ability of the skin to heal and regenerate is improved, but also the after effects of the trauma - "pychological scars" are helped with homeopathy. Warts - are treated from within also. Nothing is given to apply externally. Warts are caused by a virus. They are an outward sign that something is not right in the WHOLE body, which has allowed this virus to take a hold. This condition of the body may cause an alternation or co-existence of different diseases - eczema, psoriasis, asthma, bronchitis, arthritis, gall bladder stones, kidney stones, "thrush", high blood pressure, obsessive behaviours, etc.! When the warts crumble away, leaving no scars after homeopathic treatment, you know that your health has improved from the inside-out, lessening the tendency to these diseases. I once had a case in which the patient had had a recent retinal detachment. What happened in the weeks before that incident? A wart was removed by cauterisation from the corresponding upper eyelid... This has nothing to do with Homeopathy... but I think its one of those things that should be common knowledge - teach it in schools along with basic first aid! No its not 5.50 am, its about 5.20 pm, melbourne (Australia) daylight saving time. At least the date is correct! How frustrating, to hear a radio talkback program discussion on migraine headache treatments. Pain killers dont resolve the condition, although they are doubtless valuable in short term management - i.e. making an unbearable condition bearable temporarily. Some well-meaning person called to say that taking salt (dead sea?) from a health shop had helped a friend. A great majority of patients with migraine are helped, IN THE LONGER TERM, by a homeopathic preparation (serially diluted & succussed) of Natrum Muriaticum, which is from sodium chloride or common salt. This indicates that the majority are in fact aggravated by salt. "Let like be cured by like!" Yes, but a large dose of something which causes similar symptoms, is not going to help! Remember the great medical discovery of using amphetamine drugs (Ritalin) to treat children with hyperactivity disorder? They find an improvement at first (the homeopathic effect), then as the drug has less effect, they increase the dose... oh dear! Over 200 years ago, Dr Samuel Hahnemann had this dilemma - why did a little help for a short time only, then increased doses made the patient more sick? Somehow he came up with the method of serial dilution & succussion to make medicines which had a deeper and long-lasting effect, while losing any dangerous, toxic properties... The internet is full of websites where you can access the story of the origin of homeopathy. Try www.homeopathyinfo.net The purpose of homeopathy is to treat the cause, not as a band-aid for the symptoms. It treats the whole patient, so that if you have migraine headacjhes, we also consider what else is going on, what preceded the condition (cause?) other seemingly unrelated symptoms & conditions (we dont treat the patient as a bunch of unconnected parts or body systems, of course its all connected!). As every patient is different, there are MANY different homeopathics for a disease of the same name... In migraine headaches, we consider any aura preceding the headache (visual effects! such as zig zags, blindness etc), problems with light, heat, cold etc., any improvement from same, or position (lying still, darkness, heat, cold, pressure, certain foods or drink etc.) timing (day, night, before a thunderstorm) etc.. Sometimes the answer comes from a seemingly unrelated source. I recall reading of a case (the specific disease was not mentioned, as its name was ultimately irrelevant to choosing the right homeopathic) where the patient had repeated dreams, of "pools of blood"... There was only one homeopathic listed for this particular dream subject (surprise!). The remedy was Solanum Tuberosum Aegrotans (abb: Sol-t-ae). Diseased potato. All fixed. Now before you go off to retch, this is a homeopathic preparation, which tastes only of lactose with a hint of alcohol, as all homeopathic pilules do.. Cheers!

Ignore date & time! few hiccups here... I've been in professional practice in Homeopathy since 1995, and have had enormous personal benefit from homeopathy. Ive had years of chronic & severe health problems - breathing difficulties - after Glandular Fever at age 14. I have had no such problems for 7 years now, after quick and efficient treatment with homeopathy. Homeopathy is invaluable in difficult conditions - as long as there is a possibility for the patient to heal (we dont grow back missing organs or limbs!) the right homeopathic at the right time will do good for the patient. Please feel free to ask if homeopathy can help you. I am not going to simply advise which homeopathic for a particular condition - apart from problems with regulations and ethics prescribing to strangers over the internet, its largely futile because different homeopathics work for different patients with a seemingly same condition. For example, 500 separate remedies may be listed for "headache", and thats not all of them! Homeopathy treats "The patient, not the disease", and aims to treat the whole patient, not as separate parts. Now, Im going to see if this saves successfully, & we'll go on from there
